The 5 Best Golf Resorts in Murcia: An Honest Comparison for 2026

We compare golf, facilities, and property prices at Hacienda del Álamo, Roda Golf, La Torre, and other top resorts in the Murcia region.

Why Murcia for Golf?

The Murcia region — marketed internationally as the Costa Cálida — offers something unusual in Mediterranean Spain: championship golf in a region where property prices remain significantly lower than the Costa del Sol, Costa Blanca, or the Balearic Islands.

With over 320 days of sunshine, mild winters that rarely drop below 10°C, and an international airport (Corvera/RMU) serving major European cities, Murcia has quietly become one of the most compelling destinations for golf-focused buyers in southern Europe.

There are more than 20 courses within the region, but five stand out as established residential resort communities where you can live, invest, and play year-round.

The Five Resorts

1. Hacienda del Álamo Golf Resort

The course: 18 holes, par 72, designed by Dave Thomas. At 6,700m from the back tees, it is one of the longest in southeastern Spain. Relatively flat and walkable, with water features and well-protected greens. A 6-hole academy course, 50-bay driving range, and practice facilities round out the offering.

The community: Mature, international (predominantly British, Dutch, Belgian, German, and Scandinavian), with a genuine sense of neighbourhood. Social events year-round. Gated with controlled access.

Facilities: 4-star hotel with spa, Spanish Village with restaurants and shops, padel, tennis, multi-sport courts, bowls, fitness suite, supermarket.

Property: Resale apartments from ~€100K. New-build villas (Omala Residences) from €335,300. The largest development pipeline in the region: 1,000+ new homes planned.

Airport: Corvera RMU — 15 minutes.

Beach: Mazarrón — 30 minutes.

Best for: Buyers seeking a complete, self-contained lifestyle in a gated community with strong investment upside driven by new development. Families who value security and space.

2. Mar Menor Golf Resort

The course: 18 holes, par 72, designed by Jack Nicklaus. A prestigious name behind the design, and the course lives up to it — manicured fairways with views toward the Mar Menor lagoon. The course is arguably the most visually striking in the region.

The community: Large and well-established. Strong British presence. Active social calendar with organised sports, quiz nights, and seasonal events. Gated with 24-hour security.

Facilities: Multiple communal pools, tennis, padel, gym, on-site restaurants and bars, commercial units. The resort feels like a small town.

Property: Resale apartments from ~€90K. New-build villas from ~€350K–€500K (limited availability on final plots). Good range of townhouses in the mid-range.

Airport: Corvera RMU — 20 minutes.

Beach: Los Alcázares / Mar Menor — 10 minutes.

Best for: Buyers who want beach proximity alongside golf. The Mar Menor coastline is minutes away, making this the most versatile location for those who want both. Well-suited to couples and retirees.

3. La Torre Golf Resort

The course: 18 holes, par 68, designed by Jack Nicklaus. Shorter and more compact than Mar Menor, which makes it popular with social golfers and those who prefer a quicker round. Well maintained.

The community: Medium-sized, international, friendly. Less commercial infrastructure on-site than the larger resorts — residents tend to use nearby Torre-Pacheco and Los Alcázares for shopping and dining.

Facilities: Communal pools, playground, gym, sports courts. Fewer on-site amenities than Hacienda del Álamo or Mar Menor.

Property: Resale apartments from ~€80K. Townhouses from ~€120K. Detached villas from ~€250K. Generally more affordable entry points.

Airport: Corvera RMU — 20 minutes.

Beach: Los Alcázares — 15 minutes.

Best for: Budget-conscious buyers who want resort living without the premium price tag. A good first step onto the Spanish property ladder.

4. Condado de Alhama Golf Resort

The course: 18 holes, par 72, designed by Jack Nicklaus. Set within the Alhama de Murcia landscape — more elevation and natural vegetation than the coastal resorts. The course is scenic and well-regarded.

The community: Younger demographic than some competitors, with more Spanish families alongside internationals. The resort features a large lagoon-style pool and water park, making it particularly family-oriented.

Facilities: Large communal pools, water park, sports courts, gym, commercial centre with restaurants and shops. Feels more like a holiday resort than a permanent residential community.

Property: Apartments from ~€85K. Townhouses from ~€120K. Some villas available. Generally positioned at the more affordable end.

Airport: Corvera RMU — 25 minutes.

Beach: Mazarrón — 20 minutes.

Best for: Families with younger children. The water park and pool complex are a genuine draw. Also popular with holiday rental investors due to the family-friendly appeal.

5. Roda Golf & Beach Resort

The course: 18 holes, par 72, designed by Dave Thomas (same architect as Hacienda del Álamo). A well-designed course in a compact setting near San Javier and the Mar Menor.

The community: Smaller and quieter than the other resorts on this list. Less commercial infrastructure, which suits those who prefer absolute tranquillity. Close to Los Alcázares and San Javier for off-resort services.

Facilities: Communal pools, basic sports facilities. The resort is leaner in amenities — it relies more on its proximity to nearby towns.

Property: Resale apartments from ~€75K. New-build villas from ~€300K (limited). One of the more affordable options.

Airport: Corvera RMU — 25 minutes. San Javier (old airport, now limited use) — 10 minutes.

Beach: Los Alcázares / Mar Menor — 10 minutes.

Best for: Buyers who want quiet, affordable golf-front living near the coast. Less community infrastructure, but strong beach access.

Side-by-Side Comparison

Here is how the five resorts compare across the factors that matter most to buyers:

Course quality: Hacienda del Álamo and Mar Menor lead. Both are championship-standard with superior practice facilities. La Torre and Roda are solid but shorter.

On-site amenities: Hacienda del Álamo has the most comprehensive package — hotel, spa, commercial village, sports. Mar Menor is close behind. The others require more reliance on nearby towns.

Security: Hacienda del Álamo and Mar Menor are both gated with controlled access. Condado de Alhama is also gated. La Torre and Roda are more open.

Property prices (new build villas): La Torre and Condado de Alhama offer the lowest entry points. Hacienda del Álamo (Omala Residences) and Mar Menor are mid-to-upper range. Premium plots command higher prices across all resorts.

Beach proximity: Mar Menor, Roda Golf, and La Torre win here — all within 10–15 minutes of the coast. Hacienda del Álamo and Condado de Alhama are 20–30 minutes.

Investment potential: Hacienda del Álamo stands out due to the scale of new investment (1,000+ new homes, new ownership of the golf course, commercial village renewal). This level of development typically drives property values upward as the resort matures. Mar Menor offers stability but has less room for growth.

Community feel: Hacienda del Álamo and Mar Menor have the strongest established communities. Condado de Alhama skews younger and more holiday-oriented.

Our Perspective

We operate at Hacienda del Álamo, so we are not a neutral party — and we will not pretend otherwise. But we chose this resort for specific reasons.

The combination of a championship golf course, comprehensive on-site infrastructure, gated security, and the largest pipeline of new luxury housing in the region creates a proposition that is hard to match elsewhere in Murcia. The resort is entering a new phase of growth that is lifting property values and attracting a new wave of residents.

That said, if beach proximity is your priority, Mar Menor or Roda Golf may serve you better. If budget is the primary concern, La Torre or Condado de Alhama offer genuine value. There is no single “best” resort — only the one that fits your lifestyle.

See It for Yourself

We encourage buyers to visit two or three resorts before making a decision. When you visit Hacienda del Álamo, we will arrange a private tour of the Omala villas, the golf course, and the community — no pressure, no rush.
